Helen Mirren to play the Queen on Broadway?
Rumour abounds that Helen Mirren is currently considering playing Queen Elizabeth II in The Audience, a play about the Queens reign. The script, written by Peter Morgan (The Queen/Frost/Nixon) is apparently due to play in the West End in the autumn before transferring to Broadway in early 2013. According to the New York Post, Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot) is tipped to direct the piece which will look to humanise her majesty by mixing stories of her private and public life
