Mendes to take on Charlie
A new stage musical version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will arrive in the West End next year with director Sam Mendes at the helm. The show opens at the London Palladium in June 2013 after a short preview period. THe musical will include new songs by Hairsprays co-composers Marc Shaiman and Scott Whittman with Scottish playwright David Greig writing the book.
Casting has not been announced yet but all eyes will be on who plays Willy Wonka. Tickets go on sale in October.
